Ayodhya Ram Mandir Inauguration: 'Ram Se Rashtra', Says PM Modi After Temple Consecration

Ayodhya Ram Temple Consecrated In Grand Event, Months Ahead Of National Polls

The new Ram Lalla idol was consecrated at the Ayodhya temple on Monday, an event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, just months away from the crucial Lok Sabha elections.

“Our Ram has come,” Modi said in his address that followed the consecration, which also marks the inauguration of the temple. It is expected to open Tuesday to the public.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

The new idol depicts Ram at the age of five, and was carved from black stone by Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj.

The Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir has been constructed in the traditional Nagara style. Its east-west length is 380 feet, width 250 feet and height 161 feet. It is supported by 392 pillars and has 44 doors.

The 2019 Supreme Court judgement made way for the Ram temple at the disputed Ayodhya site, where stood the Babri Masjid that was demolished by karsevaks in 1992.

Several opposition parties largely skipped the temple inauguration event, calling it a political event organised by the BJP.

Ram is the idea of India, Ram is the law of India...Ram is the prestige of India, Ram is the glory of India...Ram is the leader and Ram is the policy. Ram is eternal...When Ram is honoured, its effect does not last for years or centuries, its effect is for thousands of years," said Narendra Modi.

Dev-se-Desh, Ram-se-Rashtra: Modi Says

PM Modi coined a new slogan after the Rem Temple inauguration: Dev-se-desh, Ram-se-Rashtra (divine-to-country, Ram-to-nation).

"We have to now lay foundation of India of next 1,000 years; We take pledge to build a capable, grand, divine India from this moment," he said.

Thank Judiciary That Delivered Justice: PM Modi 

PM Narendra Modi says, "...In that period, the separation lasted only for 14 years...In this era, Ayodhya and the countrymen have endured hundreds of years of separation. Many of our generations have suffered this separation..."

"The legal battle over the existence of Lord Ram went on for decades. I would like to express my gratitude to the judiciary of India for doing justice."

"I had the opportunity to listen to Ramayan in different languages and versions. Ram's legend is part of people's lives. Stories from Ramayan has driven ages of thoughts," PM Modi said.

Modi To Ram Devotees

"We have not been able to achieve this feat for centuries. I believe Lord Ram will forgive us for this," says PM Modi.

"The whole country is celebrating and doing kirtans. People have joined this momentous occasion," he said, recounting his recent visits to Ram-related sites across the country, including Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu.

"Today, our Lord Ram has returned after centuries of patience and sacrifice," PM Modi said.

"This day is the beginning of a new era. Even a thousand years from now, people will talk about this day. It is a blessing that we are here to witness this momentous occasions."

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said PM Modi stridently followed his 11-fast.

"It is our time to show our dedication to the 'Ram Rajya' now in India. People from all walks of life have to join the efforts. We should forget pur little fights and build a stronger nation," he said.

"There are some feelings in my heart that I cannot find words to express. Everyone is emotional and happy. PM Modi Reaches Ayodhya

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ayodhya on Monday for the consecration ceremony at the newly constructed Ram temple. The prime minister landed at the Maharshi Valmiki International Airport and will head to the helipad from there, PTI reported.

Modi will then go to the Ram temple where he will take part in the “pran pratishtha” ceremony. He will later address a gathering after the ceremony. He is also scheduled to visit the Kuber Tila.

Government projects worth Rs 35,000 crore are ongoing or completed in Ayodhya, according to the principal secretary for Uttar Pradesh Tourism.

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and several sitting and former judges, including Ranjan Gogoi have been invited for the consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple.

Ayodhya and nearby areas experienced misty weather today morning. 

According to the weather department, the temple city is likely to experience 'cold day' conditions today, with the maximum temperature expected to settle around 15 to 17 degrees Celsius.

A 'cold day' is when the minimum temperature is less than or equal to 10 degrees Celsius below normal, and the maximum temperature is at least 4.5 degrees below normal.

5 Lakh Laddus Reach Ayodhya

Five lakh laddus prepared at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain city have reached Ayodhya ahead of the Ram temple consecration ceremony on Monday, an official said, PTI reported.

The laddus, weighing about 50 gm each, will be distributed to devotees as prasad on the occasion, he said.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav earlier said that Ujjain has connections with Ayodhya dating back more than 2,000 years.

Ayodhya Ready For Ram Temple Pran Pratishtha

The 'Pran Pratishtha' (consecration) ceremony of Lord Ram in the newly built Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya will be held on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address this distinguished gathering on the occasion. The ceremony will be attended by representatives of all major spiritual and religious sects of the country.

The consecration ceremony had started on Jan. 16 with "prayaschit" and "karmakuti" puja being performed on that day.
