Most markets in Asia-Pacific reversed gains in early trade Tuesday as commodities' prices rose with gold trading near record high on geopolitical tension in Ukraine and West Asia.
The S&P ASX 200 was 14.90 points or 0.19% lower at 7,848.80, and the KOSPI was 13.53 points or 0.49% down at 2,728.61 as of 6:49 a.m.
U.S. markets closed higher on Monday as investors remained positive about Nvidia Corp's earning following bullish analysts' call, Bloomberg reported.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq composite settled 0.09% and 0.65% higher respectively on Monday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average index settled 0.49% lower.
Prices of Brent Crude's July futures was trading 0.18% lower at $83.53 as of 06:51 a.m.
Gold futures rose 1.52% to $2,454 on Monday, marking the highest level as traders flock to the safe haven on risk off sentiment due to tension in West Asia, and Ukraine. It was trading 0.18% higher at $2,429.68 as of 06:51 a.m.
The GIFT nifty was trading 7 points or 0.03% higher at 22,609.50 as of 06:52 a.m.
The Indian markets traded on Saturday as the national bourses conducted a special trading session for an easy switch over to a disaster recovery site. The equity benchmark indices extended its winning streak to its third day on Saturday as the benchmark indices ended higher on both of the special sessions.
The S&P BSE Sensex closed 88.91 points or 0.12%, higher at 71,005.94, while the NSE Nifty 50 advanced 35.9 points or 0.16%, to end at 22,502. During the day, the Sensex rose as much as 0.33% to 74,162.76, while the Nifty declined 0.24% to 22,520.25.
Earnings in Focus
BHEL, NMDC, Eris Lifesciences Ltd, Metropolis Health and JK Tyre will be among the major firms to report their fourth quarter earnings on Tuesday.
PI Industries, Hitachi Energy (Q1), GE T&D, Ircon, Maharashtra Seamless, Aether Industries, Sheela Foam, Galaxy Surfactants, Rategain, Laxmi Organic, Arvind Fashions, Gulf Oil Lubricants, VA Tech Wabag, Greenply, Dollar Industries, Fiem Industries, Mayur Uniquoters, Action Construction and Godawari Power are the other companies expected to report their earnings on Tuesday.
