Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday has sent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to three-day Central Bureau of Investigation remand in the excise policy case. Earlier today, the CBI arrested Kejriwal after Special Judge Amitabh Rawat of a Delhi court passed the order.

The agency had asked for five-day custody of Kejriwal. The application was moved by the central probe agency after the Aam Aadmi Party leader was produced before the court by Tihar central jail authorities.

Excise Policy Case: High Court Extends Stay On Arvind Kejriwal's Bail

Kejriwal Withdraws Bail Plea From Supreme Court

Arvind Kejriwal withdrew his plea for bail submitted in the Supreme Court. The appeal challenged the Delhi High Court order granting an interim stay on the trial court's bail order related to the case on Wednesday.

A bench of Justices Manoj Misra and SVN Bhatti allowed Kejriwal to withdraw his plea. Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, informed the bench that due to a detailed order passed by the high court on June 25, Kejriwal would like to file a substantial appeal.

"We would like to file a substantial appeal to bring on record all relevant details and challenge the June 25 order of the high court in which bail order was finally stayed," he said.

Singhvi also mentioned that new developments were occurring daily, including Kejriwal's recent arrest by the CBI. The bench acknowledged this and granted him the liberty to file the appeal.

The high court stayed the trial court's order granting bail to Kejriwal on Tuesday, stating that the lower court did not "appropriately appreciate" the material presented by the Enforcement Directorate.
