Air Pegasus, a 'right-cost' airline based out of Bengaluru, will take to the skies later this week on Sunday, April 12, the company told NDTV. 'Right cost' is a model that is in between a low cost carrier or LCC and a full-service airline.

The airline is offering tickets at a promotional price starting Rs 1,234, Shyson Thomas, managing director at Air Pegasus, told NDTV. (Watch)

"Initially to start with (flights from) Bengaluru to Hubli and Hubli to Bengaluru. Then, Trivandrum to Bengaluru and Bengaluru to Trivandrum. To Trivandrum we will have daily double flights," Mr Thomas said.

Air Pegasus will operate the 72-seater ATR 72-500 aircraft and will initially connect the southern cities of Bengaluru, Hubli, Kochi and Trivandrum with the IT capital city as its base.

The airline is promoted by Decor Aviation, which calls itself the largest ground handling service provider in South India. The company has its presence in all major airports in South India including Bengaluru, Chennai, Trivandrum, and Cochin.

Air Pegasus received its flying permit from aviation regulator DGCA or Directorate General of Civil Aviation last year.

According to reports, Air Pegasus will focus on South India in its first year of operations and look to expand to the other parts of the country after that.

Vijayawada-based Air Costa, which received its flying permit along with Air Pegasus, started operations last year itself.
