After Amul And Mother Dairy, Parag Milk Foods Hikes Milk Prices

Mother Dairy and Amul also raised milk prices by Rs 2 per litre, citing heat and higher production costs.

Parag Milk Foods Ltd. on Friday announced a Rs 2 per litre increase in the price of fresh milk.

Its toned milk will now cost Rs 56 instead of Rs 54, while the price of one litre of Gowardhan Gold Milk has increased from Rs 56 to Rs 58 in Mumbai. Prices of half-litre packs have been increased by Re 1, according to statement.

In the rest of Maharashtra, the price of fresh toned milk will be around Rs 52 to Rs 54, and for Gowardhan Gold cow milk, it would be around Rs 54 to Rs 56.

The milk producer has already implemented a price hike of Rs 2 per litre in Mumbai, according to Rahul Kumar, chief operating officer at Parag Milk Foods.

"Similar adjustments are planned for other regions in the coming days to ensure smooth communication with all our packing plants and to align with our existing inventories," he said.

Earlier this month, Mother Dairy also announced a Rs 2 per litre increase in the price of milk, citing extreme heat and higher production costs.

After the revision, Mother Dairy buffalo milk will now cost Rs 72 a litre, while cow milk will be priced at Rs 58 a litre in the Delhi-NCR region.

Amul also announced a similar price hike and explained that the Rs 2 per litre increase translates to a 3-4% rise in sticker price.
