Tech Mahindra Ltd., a provider of technology consulting and digital solutions, has expanded its business processing services in the Baltic States with a new centre in Riga, Latvia. The expansion will help the company bolster its presence in Europe, providing local and regional customers with access to its services, including 5G, metaverse, blockchain, quantum computing, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, it said in a press release.

The centre was inaugurated by Tanmaya Lal, Ambassador of India to the Republic of Latvia and Sweden; Jurģis Miezainis, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Economics, Republic of Latvia; and Vilnis Ķirsis, Mayor of Riga.

"Tech Mahindra's expansion into the Baltic States is a pivotal stride in our growth strategy. Latvia's thriving tech ecosystem, skilled workforce, robust IT infrastructure, and favourable government policies make it an ideal hub for accessing European markets. This expansion highlights our commitment to regional growth and technological advancements in Europe,” said Birendra Sen, business head, business processing services, Tech Mahindra.

According to the company, the centre will employ approximately 500 professionals, extending its global workforce of over 145,000 employees. Tech Mahindra will also establish a business process outsourcing service within the Jaunā Teika complex, Latvia’s business hub.

"Riga is becoming increasingly attractive to global business service centres. The presence of these centres promotes both growth and innovation in research and smart technology," said Ķirsis.

The new facility is BREEAM certified, a globally recognised programme administered by the Building Research Establishment. The office complex meets sustainable building design standards and features the largest electric car charging station in the Baltics.
