Oracle and Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corp. have launched a specialised skills development programme under the state’s Naan Mudhalvan initiative, to provide employment-linked training to more than 2 lakh students in the state. As part of the collaboration, the company will offer Oracle Cloud Infrastructure training to help students in the state advance their technical careers.

Students at different stages of their learning and professional goals will be trained and certified on modern technologies from Oracle, including cloud, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning and blockchain in 2024, according to a press release. More than 60,000 students from engineering, arts and science streams from over 900 colleges in the state have registered to participate in the programme, as per the release.

"As part of our responsibility to provide youth and young professionals with a platform to upskill themselves and achieve their career goals, we launched Naan Mudhalvan,” said J. Innocent Divya, managing director, TNSDC. “We already reach 13 lakh students through this initiative and with Oracle, we hope to train over 2 lakh of them on new technology skills that could have a positive impact on their future career opportunities.”

Teachers and academicians will deliver the training as part of the curriculum on campus. Specific modules will be offered as a digital learning experience through Oracle MyLearn, the company’s training and enablement platform from Oracle University. It will offer foundational training in cloud technologies, leading to professional-level training, certifications and additional training that will be individually curated based on learning levels and educational goals.

“With Oracle certification recognised as an industry standard for professionals, it not only enhances knowledge but also validates skills sought after by employers, thereby enhancing job prospects and stability," said Shailender Kumar, senior vice president and regional managing director, Oracle India.

According to Oracle, more than 2 crore hours of Oracle University learning content have been viewed by learners globally, and the programme has trained more than 31 lakh certified professionals in the global workforce.
