BluSmart Mobility Tech Pvt. has made its charging stations available to drivers and vehicles outside its own cab network, in a move to diversify its income sources beyond transportation services.
The Gurugram-based company, which always positioned itself as an e-mobility ride-hailing service as well as an EV charging infrastructure network, launched a new app called BluSmart Charge on major app stores on Monday.
BluSmart Charge caters to all EV users, including fleet operators and individuals. It is set to make charging available across the National Capital Region and Bengaluru, the all-electric cab service said. With this, enterprises and individuals can pay BluSmart about Rs 15 per unit for charging their vehicles at any of the company's 50 EV charging hubs.
Across these hubs, BluSmart operates about 5,000 fast and slow EV charging stations, which are also located in prime real-estate areas, such as malls, corporate parks and metro stations.
"BluSmart continues to deliver on its fundamental strength of being a full-stack, vertically integrated EV ecosystem," Anmol Singh Jaggi, co-founder at BluSmart, said. "In our journey of building a safe, reliable electric ride hailing service, the unavailability of charging infrastructure is a key pain point that we set out to solve."
The details about the expected revenue from the new business venture were not immediately available. BluSmart declined to comment.
Founded in 2019, BluSmart has over 7,500 EV cars. It is also in talks to raise another Rs 200 crore for fleet and charging infrastructure expansion.
