PM Modi Congratulates Indian Cricket Team After T20 World Cup Victory

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian cricket team on their T20 World Cup victory during a phone call on Sunday.

He also released a video on microblogging platform X featuring a congratulatory address commending the Indian cricket team for their victory over South Africa.

PM Modi extended his congratulations to Rohit Sharma for his outstanding captaincy and lauded his illustrious T20 career. Modi also commended Virat Kohli for his crucial innings in the final and his overall contributions to Indian cricket.

Both Sharma and Kohli announced their retirement from T20 internationals following the victory.

Modi praised Hardik Pandya for his crucial final over and highlighted Suryakumar Yadav's spectacular boundary catch that dismissed David Miller. He also acknowledged Jasprit Bumrah's significant contributions throughout the tournament.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to coach Rahul Dravid for his invaluable role in Indian cricket. The dramatic victory in the final marked a historic moment for Indian cricket, as they defeated South Africa to lift the coveted trophy.

In the thrilling finale at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, India clinched their second ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title by edging out South Africa in a nail-biting match. The star-studded Indian team triumphed by seven runs, ending an agonizing 11-year wait for a global title.
