Two-and-a-half years after breaking away from the Bharatiya Janata Party and allying the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party, Uddhav Thackeray stares at his ouster as Maharashtra chief minister.

A majority of the Shiv Sena MLAs, now in Guwahati, have rebelled against Thackeray and want to partner with the BJP again.

How did this happen? How did the chief minister not have a clue about a rebellion of such scale? Does he have a legal remedy?
