The Passport Seva portal will be temporarily inaccessible due to scheduled technical maintenance from August 29 to September 2.
The portal will not be available for applicants starting 8 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Monday as part of planned maintenance, as per the Passport Seva official website.
According to an official notification, during this five-day shutdown, the portal will be inaccessible to citizens as well as officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Regional Passport Offices (RPO), Bureau of Immigration (BOI), Indian Security Press (ISP), Department of Posts (DoP) and various police authorities.
Applicants who have appointments on Friday, August 30, will be allotted a revised appointment date and time slot, and they will be notified about the same.
In a post on its official X handle, PassportSeva Support said,"Advisory - Passport Seva portal will be unavailable from 2000 hrs (29.8.2024) till 0600 hrs (2.9.2024) due to technical maintenance."
It is recommended that citizens hold off on applying for passports or other associated services until the site is back up and running. This temporary suspension of services, though inconvenient, is necessary to upgrade the infrastructure of the Passport Seva portal, which handles a vast number of applications daily.
Citizens rely on the portal to book appointments at the various Passport Seva Kendras, Post Office Passport Seva Kendras, and regional passport offices for services, including the issuance of new passports, reissue of passports among others.
Earlier, in March 2024, the Passport Seva portal was down for three days due to technical difficulties, disrupting both the online application process and appointment scheduling for visits to Passport Seva Kendras across the country.
