All three main Wall Street indices opened in the green on Monday, as S&P 500 was up 0.40% at 5,864.67 points at the opening bell and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite jumped 0.63% to 18,489.55.

The 30-stock Dow Jones Industrial Average also opened higher, 0.09% to open at 43,275.91.

Stocks like Boeing Company were up 4.92%, Kenvue Inc. was higher 6.42%, and Humana Inc. jumped 2.32%. Among the companies that slipped in early trade were American Express Co., which dropped 1.44% and Intel Corp., down 0.90%.

Among the 11 S&P 500 sectoral indices, four were trading higher, whereas seven slipped against the previous day's close. The gains were led by the utilities sector, information technology and energy sector, whereas consumer discretionary and real estate were among the drags.

US stocks are unlikely to sustain their above-average performance of the past decade as investors turn to other assets, including bonds for better returns, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. strategists told Bloomberg.

"The S&P 500 Index is expected to post an annualised nominal total return of just 3% over the next 10 years," according to an analysis by strategists including David Kostin. That compares with 13% in the last decade and a long-term average of 11%.

As the US market opened, spot gold rose 0.63% to $2,738.49 an ounce. Crude oil prices were higher, with Brent trading 1.82% higher at $74.39 per barrel.

The Bloomberg Dollar Index rose by 0.2%, with the British Pound falling by 0.2% to $1.3025 while the Japanese yen was down 0.4% to 150.06 per dollar.

Bitcoin, the largest traded cryptocurrency, slipped 1.3% to $67,840.63.
