Mainpuri has become a significant battleground due to its key contenders—Dimple Yadav, wife of former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, representing the Samajwadi Party, and Thakur Jayvir Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

This constituency has been the fortress of the Samajwadi Party, with the party winning the 2019 elections. Mulayam Singh Yadav had contested here for the first time in 1996, and since then the seat has been a bastion of SP. Following his death, Dimple, the wife of his son Akhilesh, emerged victorious in the by-poll election in 2022, securing a staggering vote share of 64.08% with a margin of 2,88,46 votes.

With Thakur Jayvir Singh offering a tough fight, it remains to be seen whether Yadav manages to maintain the SP's hold on Mainpuri. In 2019, Mulayam Singh had won his fifth term as Member of Parliament with a total of 5,24,926 votes and a vote share of 53.75% against the BJP's Prem Singh Shakya.

The constituency comprises five Vidhan Sabha seats—Mainpuri, Bhongaon, Kishni (SC), Karhal, and Jaswantnagar. It saw a voter turnout of 58.59% in the third phase of elections held on May 7.

Other key battles in the state include the INC's Rahul Gandhi vs the Bhartiya Janta Party's Dinesh Pratap Singh in Raebareli, where Gandhi is leading comfortably at 6,86,044 votes with a margin of 3,89,341. PM Modi won the Varanasi seat with a majority of 6,12,970 votes. Smriti Irani is trailing Kishori Lal Sharma by 1,62,951 votes in Amethi, the Congress stronghold that she managed to wrest control of in the 2019 elections. In Ayodhya, BJP candidate Lallu Singh is currently (at 5:58 p.m.) lagging behind Awadesh Prasad of Samajwadi Party who is in the lead with a margin of 56,768 seats.
