Telecom operator Vodafone Idea Ltd. has made an additional payment of Rs 3,354 crore towards AGR dues to the telecom department, the company said today.

This completes the payment of principal amount calculated on self-assessment basis. The joint venture of the U.K. Vodafone Group Plc and India’s Aditya Birla Group has now paid Rs 6,854 crore in adjusted gross revenue dues to the government, against the Rs 53,000 crore liability assessed by the DoT.

"The company has today (Monday) paid a further amount of Rs 3,354 crore to the DoT, being the balance part of the principal amount towards AGR. Thus, the company has paid the full principal amount of Rs 6,854 crore towards AGR dues," Vodafone Idea said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The DoT's demand of around Rs 53,000 crore includes interest, penalty and interest on delay in payment of the amount.
