Highway Toll Goes Up 5%: Delhi, Mumbai Drivers To Pay This Much More

The decision to implement the new toll rates comes after the conclusion of the electoral process, aligning with changes in the CPI-based inflation.

The National Highways Authority of India has announced a 5% average hike in toll rates, effective from June 3, 2024. Initially scheduled for April 1, the revision was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections. The decision to implement the new toll rates comes after the conclusion of the electoral process, aligning with changes in the consumer price index-based inflation.

Delhi NCR Region

  1. Delhi-Meerut Expressway: Light vehicles, including cars, will face a 5% toll increase, amounting to approximately an Rs 8 rise for a single trip.

  2. Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway: Toll rates have surged by 4-5% across all vehicle categories.

  3. Kherki Daula Toll Plaza: For cars and jeeps, the toll per trip is now Rs 85, while buses, trucks, and multiple-axle vehicles will pay Rs 250.

  4. Sohna Elevated Road: Light commercial vehicles will be charged Rs 205 per trip, with increases also seen for buses, trucks, and monthly pass rates.

  5. Eastern Peripheral Expressway: A 5% hike in toll rates is expected post-elections, with specific revised rates yet to be disclosed.

The highway authorities have a fixed toll charge of Rs 2.19 per km on the expressway.

Maharashtra

  1. Mumbai-Bandra Worli Sea Link: The toll for cars and jeeps on this iconic bridge has also increased, with a single trip now costing Rs 100. Similar adjustments are made for minibuses, tempos, and two-axle trucks.

  2. Pune-Satara Highway: Toll rates at Anewadi and Shivapur toll booths have risen for light vehicles, buses, trucks, and heavy vehicles. Light vehicles are expected to pay a toll of Rs 120.

  3. Pune-Nashik Highway: Chalkewadi and Hivargaon toll booths will witness increased toll rates for light vehicles, trucks, and buses. Commuters travelling through motorbikes, jeeps, and light vehicles will now be required to pay Rs 105 on this route.
