Rohit Shetty's directorial venture Singham Returns, starring Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor, collected nearly Rs 2.5 crore net in its third weekend at the domestic box office, Bollywood trade website boxofficeindia.com reported. This takes Singham Returns overall collection to Rs 137.16 crore net, and a position among the top 10 highest-ever Bollywood grosser, adds the report.
Singham Returns has already crossed Rowdy Rathore to become the tenth highest grossing film ever and is eyeing Dabangg (2010), which grossed around Rs 141 crore net, the website said in another report.
Singham Returns is now second highest Bollywood grosser so far in 2014, overtaking the lifetime collections of Jai Ho and Holiday, says the report. Salman Khan-starrer Kick is so far the biggest Bollywood grosser this year, with collections of over Rs 200 crore.
Singham Returns has helped many of its cast or crew set new box-office benchmarks. Singham Returns is Ajay Devgn's fifth Rs 100 crore grosser and the fastest to reach that mark, Bollywood website koimoi.com said in a separate report. Salman Khan leads the pack with seven Rs 100 crore grossers to his credit, the report adds.
Singham Returns also marks director Rohit Shetty's fifth Rs 100 crore grosser, the report adds. Rohit Shetty has delivered hits like Golmaal series, Singham, Bol Bachchan and Chennai Express. For Kareena Kapoor, Singham Returns is also her fifth Rs 100 crore grosser, a record she shares with Sonakshi Sinha, says the report.
