MG Motor India Pvt. has signed an initial pact with Vertelo to deliver 3,000 electrical vehicles in a phased manner. The Memorandum of Understanding will focus on providing sustainable mobility solutions to riders.
The partnership will also help establish EV charging infrastructure in the country, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
"This partnership between MG India and Vertelo demonstrates a shared vision for a green and sustainable future with decarbonisation in India. We also believe that this collaboration will augment our endeavours to offer advanced e-mobility solutions for passengers and boost faster adoption of EVs in the country," said Gaurav Gupta, chief growth officer at MG Motor India.
This partnership marks the beginning of an exciting journey for both organisations, with a common goal of accelerating fleet electrification and achieving net-zero emissions, said Sandeep Gambhir, chief executive officer of Vertelo.
The range of electric vehicles that MG Motor plans to bring in India over the next few years, coupled with Vertelo's integrated electrification solutions for fleet operators and corporates, will go a long way in accelerating the shift towards a more sustainable transportation ecosystem, he said.
Vertelo is a Macquarie-managed integrated fleet electrification platform that is funded by the Green Climate Fund. It plans to invest $1.5 billion over 10 years, with the aim to achieve potential greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
