Government has procured 69.24 LMT of wheat during the Rabi marketing season 2022-23 till April 17, according to Ministry of Food and Consumer Affairs data. At the same time, 754.08 LMT of paddy has also been procured during Kharif marketing season of 2021-22 till the same period.
Wheat has been procured from states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh among others, the ministry said in a statement.
Out of the 754.08 LMT of paddy procured during the 2021-22 Kharif marketing season, 750.95 LMT is from Kharif crop and 3.14 LMT is from Rabi crop, the data said.
Total procurement of wheat under the Rabi Marketing season of 2022-23 till April 17, is to the tune of 69,23,775 metric tonnes, while the minimum support price (MSP) provided to farmers totalling Rs 13,951 crore.
Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan were the states from where the maximum quantity of wheat has been procured by the government.
