Leading low-cost airline AirAsia plans to set up its hub either in Bhopal or Indore to provide air connectivity to major cities across the country.
AirAsia's chief executive officer Mittu Chandilya met Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today to discuss the modalities to set up a hub either in Bhopal or Indore, an official press release said.
The move would enhance Madhya Pradesh's tourism potential besides generating employment opportunities and providing air connectivity to passengers from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea and Australia, official sources said.
Mr. Chandilya also met Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary R Parsuram and other senior state officials.
The Chief Secretary highlighted that Madhya Pradesh has been acknowledged as a state with maximum growth and had developed better infrastructure facilities.
Additional Chief Secretary P K Dash, MP Chief Minister's Secretary S K Mishra and Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) Managing Director Raghvendra Singh were among others present at the meeting, the sources said.
