The main contest in Mumbai is between the ruling Mahayuti comprising the Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance comprising Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and NCP (SP).
Polling booths in many parts of Mumbai witnessed brisk voting as soon as the polling began at 7 am on Monday in the six Lok Sabha constituencies i India's financial capital.

Among the early voters were Union Minister Piyush Goyal, the BJP nominee from the Mumbai North seat, and city Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad, who is contesting from the Mumbai North Central seat.

The early voters also included industrialist Anil Ambani, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who exercised his franchise for the first time after his return to Indian citizenship, actor Janhvi Kapoor, actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and Marathi theatre actor Prashant Damle.

"I want that my country remains strong and keeps growing and I have voted keeping it in mind. And more people should come to cast their vote to whoever they deem suitable," Akshay Kumar said.
