A Delhi NCR engineer's social media post on real estate prices in Noida, where apartments have staggering price tags of Rs 15 crore, has gone viral.

The video by Kashish Chhibber, who goes by the Instagram handle of 'Witty Engineer', has struck a chord with millions of viewers.

In the video, Chhibber takes his Instagram followers to Noida Sector 124, where he checked out an apartment at the upcoming ATS Knightsbridge. "Can you guess the cost of an apartment here? It's Rs 15 crore for a 4BHK, and Rs 25 crore for a 6BHK!" he exclaimed.

"I'm forced to wonder who is buying these apartments. What work do they do?," says Chhibber, adding, "I feel like no matter how many jobs I switch, no matter how much I trade or invest, will I ever be able to afford a 4BHK in this society?"

Since it was shared on Instagram, Chhibber's video has gone viral, amassing 4.4 million views. Many viewers were stunned by the prices of apartments in ATS Knightsbridge, which are significantly higher than the typical costs in Noida. The video also reached X (formerly Twitter), where it has garnered over a million views, sparking a heated discussion about real estate affordability.

Some netizens echoed Chhibber's disbelief, while others defended the high prices, noting the luxurious nature of the project.

Many users remarked that Noida's real estate market was becoming as unaffordable as that of Delhi.

One user commented, "Overpriced properties in the midst of substandard city infrastructure. Both in Noida and Gurugram. People rush to buy apartments in 'societies' or private centres of excellence created by builders because of the pathetic facilities outside and jack-up prices."

Another user compared, "Not comparing to Noida, but a 4BHK Villa in Hyderabad (non-prime area) costing 4-12 Cr. Same size villa in California (non-prime area) costed him 5cr." [sic]

Yet another remarked, "Who is buying 😭 in this amount one can easily buy 4BHK in a Dubai with a gold visa for 10 years and drive a Bentley on one of the best roads in mature driving environments, with the best of the lifestyle." [sic]

YouTuber Akshat Shrivastava questioned why people would buy Rs 15-crore flats in Noida, suggesting the same amount could buy a villa in Dubai or an apartment in a prime Manhattan location.

Several criticised the high cost of living in India, attributing it to overpopulation and poor infrastructure. Some even suggested that moving abroad could offer a more comfortable and cleaner lifestyle.

The ATS Knightsbridge project is described on its website as featuring ultra-luxurious 4-bed residences in two configurations: a 3BHK spanning 6000 sq. ft. and a 6BHK spread across 10,000 sq. ft. The property offers high-end amenities, such as a dedicated concierge service, which is said to contribute to its premium pricing.
