Meta has rolled out its AI assistant, Meta AI, across its leading platforms, WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram, as the tech giant further caters to its largest user base country.

Meta AI is built with Meta's most advanced large language model to date, the Llama 3.

"You can use Meta AI in feeds, chats, and more across our apps to get things done, create content, and deep dive on topics without having to leave the app you’re using," Meta said in a statement.

In April, the AI assistant was rolled out on a trial basis in India and officially in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Pakistan, and others, among more than a dozen countries. Now, the feature is officially available in India in English.

"With our most powerful large language model under the hood, Meta AI is better than ever. We’re excited to share our next-generation assistant with even more people and can’t wait to see how it enhances people’s lives," it said.

Meta releasing its Llama models is a big step in making AI accessible to a broad base of users, according to Paramdeep Singh, co-founder of Shorthills AI, a Gurugram-based gen AI startup.

"Users can interact with AI to generate content, and share it right there with their target audience. Llama being open-source gives Meta the advantage of community contribution to keep improving the model. With access to user generated data, measurement about which content engages the end user, and continuous model improvement, Meta is bound to be on the forefront of GenAI technology," he said.
