Uganda Equals The Record For Lowest Total In T20 World Cup History; Check List Of Lowest Team Totals Here

Uganda equalled the record set by the Netherlands during the 2014 T20 World Cup. Both nations find themselves twice in the list of top 5 teams with the lowest totals in T20 World Cup history.

T20 World Cup 2024: Uganda bagged an unwanted record during their match against West Indies in Group C of the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup. Batting second Brian Masaba-led Uganda were bowled out for 39 runs in 12 overs equalling the record previously held by Netherlands.

Chasing a target of 174, Uganda was rocked early in the innings by a mesmerising spell of spin bowling by Akeal Hosein. The West Indian bowler was simply unplayable as none of the batsmen had answers to his variations. Hosein grabbed five wickets in his allotted four overs and conceded just 11 runs. In doing so, Akeal Hosein recorded his first five-wicket haul in T20 cricket.

Netherlands 39 all out vs Sri Lanka

The record was previously held by the Netherlands during their match against Sri Lanka at the 2014 T20 World Cup which was held in Bangladesh. Batting first the Dutch team were bowled out for 39 runs in 10.3 overs with only one batsman recording a score in double-digits, Tom Cooper scored 16 out of those 39 runs.

Uganda 39 all out vs West Indies

Uganda became the joint holders of the record during their match against West Indies in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Batting second Uganda were bowled out for 39 runs in 12 overs with only one batsman recording a score in double-digits, Juma Miyagi scored 13 out of those 39 runs.

Netherlands 44 all out vs Sri Lanka

The Dutch team were bowled out for 44 runs during their match against Sri Lanka at the 2021 T20 World Cup which was held in UAE and Oman. Batting first the Netherlands were bowled out for 44 runs in 10 overs with only one batsman recording a score in double-digits, Colin Ackermann scored 11 runs in this match.

West Indies 55 all out vs England

The unwanted record for the lowest-ever total by a full-member team in a T20 World Cup belongs to the West Indies during their group stage match against England in the 2021 edition held in Dubai. Batting first the West Indies were bowled out for 55 runs in 14.2 overs with only one batsman recording a score in double-digits, Chris Gayle scored 13 runs in this match.

Uganda 58 all out vs Afghanistan

Uganda recorded their second lowest total in the same T20 World Cup when they were bundled out for just 58 runs against Afghanistan in match 5 of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Only two batsmen in the Uganda team were able to cross the single-digit scores. Fazalhaq Farooqi was the chief destroyer for Afghanistan who bagged the first 5-wicket haul of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
