IPL 2025 Auction: Pant And Shreyas Iyer Become Costliest Players In IPL History; Warner Goes Unsold

The first day of the electrifying IPL mega auction 2025 comes to an end. We can see a huge shift in team dynamics as marquee players including Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer among others have created history.

The Indian gun batter, Rishabh Pant becomes the most expensive player as he was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for a jaw dropping Rs 27 crore while Shreyas Iyer becomes the second most expensive player in the history of IPL, bagging Rs 26.75 crore from Punjab.

The Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore

Veteran players like David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have gone unsold while players like Ravichandran Ashwin and Trent Boult have returned to their former franchises, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians respectively.

When it comes to the foreign players, we could notice that players like Adam Zampa and Quinton de Kock secured only 2.4 crore and 3.6 crore respectively and heavyweights like Jos Buttler, Mitchell Starc and Trent Boult earned above 10 crore each.

Manav Suthar is acquired by Gujarat Titans at his base price of Rs 30 lakh, while Shreyas Gopal, who previously played for Rajasthan Royals, goes unsold.

Karan Sharma was bought by Mumbai Indians at his base price of Rs 50 lakh while Kolkata also acquired Mayank Markande at his base price of Rs 30 lakh.

Indian spinner, Piyush Chawla remained unsold. He represented Mumbai Indian in IPL 2024.
