India At T20 World Cup 2024 — Schedule, Squad, Match Timings And More

The ninth edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup will begin from June 1, with the West Indies and the USA set to co-host the marquee event.

The pinnacle men's T20 tournament will see a record 20 teams divided into four groups competing across 55 games for the right to be crowned ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Champions 2024.

The participating teams are — Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, England, India, Ireland, Namibia, Nepal, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Scotland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Uganda and the USA.

The 20 teams have been divided into four groups of five, with the top two teams progressing to the Super Eights:

• Group A: India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and the USA

• Group B: England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland and Oman

• Group C: New Zealand, the West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea

• Group D: South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Netherlands and Nepal

Team India will begin their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 05, at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, followed by the much-awaited clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 09 at the same venue. India will then play the USA and Canada on June 12 and 15 respectively.

India will play their only World Cup warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1 in New York, where they also play three league games.

As they play the bulk of their league games at the same venue, India would want to make the most of the warm-up game and get an idea of the conditions. The work on the modular stadium with a drop-in pitch was completed earlier this month with the construction only starting in January.

India will play the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup in Guyana on June 27 if the cricketing giants reach the last four stage of the competition.

Skipper Rohit Sharma was among the 10 India squad members that landed in New York on Sunday morning for the T20 Word Cup with Virat Kohli and vice-captain Hardik Pandya being the notable absentees in the first batch of arrivals.

Also part of the travelling party was head coach Rahul Dravid and the rest of the support staff.

Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel were among the players who arrived in New York. Reserve players Shubman Gill and Khaleel Ahmed were also with them.
