The Super 8 stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup began on Wednesday with the United States of America taking on South Africa in Antigua. South Africa came out on top after winning the match by 18 runs. The late onslaught by USA's Andries Gous and Harmeet Singh was not enough as they ended up on 176-6 runs while chasing the target of 195.

The eight teams — India, USA, South Africa, Australia, England, West Indies, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will battle for a place in the semi-finals at the biggest cricket carnival spectacle ever.

The Super 8 matches will be played across four West Indies venues: Antigua and Barbuda (four matches), Barbados (three matches), Saint Lucia (three matches) and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (two matches). 

Each team will play every other team in its group once and the top two sides in each group will qualifying for the semi-finals.

The groups are:

• Group A: India, Australia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh

• Group B: USA, England, West Indies, South Africa
