Hindustan Zinc Q1 Mined And Refined Metal Production Rises

Refined metal production was at 262 KT, up 1% year-on-year.

Hindustan Zinc Ltd.'s mined metal production grew 2% year-on-year to 263 KT, with improved mined metal grades in the first quarter of fiscal 2025, according to a business update.

In line with mine preparation activities being carried out every year in the first quarter, it was lower by 12% quarter-on-quarter, it said. Refined metal production, at 262 KT, was up 1% year-on-year. It was down 4% sequentially, in line with plant availability and pyro operations in lead mode for the later part of the April-June quarter.

Refined zinc production was at 211 KT, up 1% year-on-year and down 4% quarter-on-quarter. Refined lead production at 51 KT was up 2% year-on-year and a lower 3% quarter-on-quarter.

Saleable silver production at 167 tonne was down 7% year-on-year and 12% quarter-on-quarter, in line with lead metal production and (work in progress) WIP built up (in normal course) as the company moved to pyro operations on lead mode from June 24, it said. This WIP would be liquidated in the subsequent period.

The company's wind power generation for the first quarter of FY25 was 108 MU, an increase of 78% sequentially but a decrease of 11% year-on-year consistent with wind velocity and seasonal impact.

Shares of the company closed down 0.69% at Rs 652.30 per share, as compared to a 0.04% decline in the Sensex.
