Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Likely In Parts Of Maharashtra, Kerala, TN And Other Places; Check Forecast

The India Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted that heavy rainfall is very likely to occur along the West Coast and over Northeast India during the next five days.

In its latest weather bulletin, the IMD stated that the conditions are likely to become favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of West, Central and East India and some parts of Northwest India during next four days.

The weather agency has issued an 'Orange' alert for Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Coastal Karnataka predicting isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in these regions on June 25 and 26.

IMD's Weather Forecast For Next Few Days

According to the IMD, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) is very likely over Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Gujarat state, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh.

Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next 5 days.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Saurashtra and Kutch from June 25 to 27; Gujarat Region from June 25 to 29; Coastal Karnataka from June 25 to 29; Tamil Nadu from June 25 to 27; North Interior Karnataka on June 27; Telangana on June 27 and 28 and over Coastal Andhra Pradesh from June 25 to 28.

Isolated heavy rainfall is also very likely over West Madhya Pradesh on June 27 and 28; Vidarbha on June 27 and 28; East Madhya Pradesh from June 25 to 29 and over Chhattisgarh from June 26 to 29

Isolated very heavy rainfall is very likely over Konkan and Goa during the next 5 days, the IMD said, adding that Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe might receive heavy rains during the next three days.

Additionally, the IMD has forecasted that Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim will receive heavy rainfall from June 25 to 29.

  • Possibilities of damage to vulnerable structure.

  • Localized Landslides/Mudslides/landslips/mud slips/landsinks/mudsinks.

  • Damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation.

Action Suggested

  • Check for traffic congestion on your route before leaving for your destination.

  • Follow any traffic advisories that are issued in this regard.

  • Avoid going to areas that face the water logging problems often.

  • Avoid staying in vulnerable structure.
