Educational Institutions Were Closed On July 8 

On Monday, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation announced a holiday for all BMC, government and private schools and colleges in Mumbai due to heavy rains. Earlier it had announced a holiday for the first session, but later extended it for the second session as well.

High Tide Alert In The Arabian Sea

A civic official told PTI that there will be a high tide of 3.87 metres in the Arabian Sea at 4:09 pm. As it's a saucer-shaped city, high tides combined with heavy rains can trigger flooding as water doesn't get discharged into the sea at that time.

Traffic Is Running Smoothly, Says BMC

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on X has mentioned that the pumping system at Gandhi Market is running to drain out rainwater immediately. "Traffic is running smoothly."

Train Updates By Western Railways

Western Railways on X (formerly known as Twitter) has said that trains from Churchgate to Dahanu Road and Mahim to Goregaon are running on time.

On July 12, Water Level In Mumbai Lakes At 22.80%

After light showers for two days, Mumbai and its neighboring districts experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on Thursday. As a result, the water stock in the reservoirs supplying the city increased to 22.80% on Friday. On the same day in 2023, it was 27.65%, and in 2022, it was 50.32%.

Mumbai's BKC Prepares For Traffic Disruptions

Mumbai Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory for motorists in Bandra-Kurla Complex, or BKC, ahead of a high-profile wedding at the Jio World Convention Centre. The advisory is effective from July 12 to July 15, 2024. It includes road closures and diversions to ensure smooth traffic flow during a "public event."

The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts in Maharashtra's Konkan region, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall.
