Mumbai Monsoon Update: Intensity Of Rainfall To Reduce This Week, Says IMD

Mumbai recorded light to medium rainfall at many places in the last 24 hours. Generally cloudy skies and moderate rain with thundershowers are expected over the city and suburbs.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather forecast has mentioned that the intensity of rainfall will reduce starting today (June 12) in many places across Mumbai, Thane and other districts in Maharashtra.

Residents of Mumbai, Thane and neighbouring cities experienced their first pre-monsoon showers last week followed by some isolated heavy showers during the last few days bringing respite from the intense heat and humidity. Parts of the city experienced heavy rainfall from Sunday evening until midnight, with some areas witnessing over 100mm of rain.

Over the next few days, the city can expect light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds in isolated areas for June 12.

Given below is the district-wise weather forecast and warning until June 16 for various districts of Maharashtra.

Mumbai Weather Forecast

IMD has said that the island city will likely receive light to moderate rainfall until June 16.

Thane Weather Forecast

IMD has said that Thane will likely receive moderate rainfall until June 16 with occasional spells of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) at isolated places.

Palghar Weather Forecast

IMD has said that Palghar will likely receive moderate rainfall until June 16 with occasional spells of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) at isolated places.

Raigad Weather Forecast

IMD has said that Raigad will likely receive moderate rainfall until June 16 with occasional spells of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) at isolated places.

Pune Weather Forecast

IMD has said that Pune will likely receive moderate rainfall until June 16 with occasional spells of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) at isolated places on June 12 & 13.

Ratnagiri Weather Forecast

IMD has said that Ratnagiri will likely receive moderate rainfall until June 16 with occasional spells of heavy rainfall at isolated places on June 12.

Sindhudurg Weather Forecast

IMD has said that Sindhudurg will likely receive moderate rainfall until June 16 with occasional spells of heavy rainfall at isolated places on June 12.

Other districts of Maharashtra including Dhule, Jalgaon, Sangli, Sholapur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Nanded, Hingoli, Latur, Osmanabad and Satara are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall until June 16.

Districts of Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli. Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal are likely to receive thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (up to 40-50kmph) at isolated places until June 16.

Southwest Monsoon Update

IMD stated that the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Maharashtra, Telangana and some more parts of Chhattisgarh on June 12, 2024. Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 3-4 days.
