The India Meteorological Department forecasted Mumbai to experience heavy rainfall within the next 24 hours in certain isolated areas.
The weather department also share precipitation across various parts of the city. Santacruz experienced the highest rainfall of about 267.1 millimeters, followed by Sion and Chembur with 205 mm and 190.5 mm, respectively.
Colaba and Byculla recorded the lowest rainfall of 83.8 mm and 128.5 mm, respectively.

On Monday, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation announced a holiday for all BMC, government and private schools and colleges in Mumbai due to heavy rains. Earlier it had announced a holiday for the first session, but later extended it for the second session as well.
Reports also mentioned about waterlogging in some low-lying areas and disruption of suburban train services. There was waterlogging in both main and harbour corridors.
On Western Railway, local trains were running up to 10 minutes late as railway tracks between Matunga Road and Dadar were submerged due to heavy rains.
After the spell of rains today, the BMC reported that the current water stock in reservoirs supplying water to Mumbai has risen to 18.73%. This figure compares to 21.57% on the same day in 2023 and 25.94% in 2022. As of 6:00 am on July 8, the total water stock across the seven reservoirs stands at 2,71,147 million litres.
