Four people have died, while about 25 others sustained injuries, following a boiler explosion at a chemical factory situated in the MIDC area of Mumbai's Dombivli. The explosion occurred at the premises of Amber Chemical Co., located within Phase 2 of the MIDC area.

Efforts to extinguish the resulting fire, which had spread to two adjacent buildings—including a car showroom—are expected to take approximately four hours, according to officials who spoke with NDTV. A fleet of nearly 15 fire engines was deployed to combat the blaze, with operations still in progress.

Eyewitnesses recounted hearing three distinct blasts from the factory premises.

"The incident of a boiler explosion at Amber Chemical Company in Dombivli, MIDC, is tragic. Eight people involved in this incident have been rescued. Arrangements have been made to treat the injured and more ambulances have been kept ready. I have discussed this with the collector and they are reaching the spot within 10 minutes. Teams of NDRF, TDRF, and fire brigade have been called," Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Four boilers that exploded triggered a massive fire and due to that, drums containing chemicals started bursting. This resulted in window panes of houses on the lane shattering.

The Regional Disaster Management Cell of the Thane civic body has dispatched teams to the scene, alongside 13 personnel from the Thane Disaster Response Force. These teams are actively engaged in ongoing efforts to contain the fire.
