First state to provide free healthcare insurance worth Rs.50,000 to all citizens
The first wellness centre of Ayushman Bharat scheme, the world's biggest government funded health care plan, was inaugurated in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh.
Increase in the number of Primary Health Care centres from 513 to 793
Secondary Healthcare Facilities increased from 3818 to 5186.
The percentage of women giving birth in hospitals has touched 74% as of 2018. Up from 28% hospital childbirths in 2003.
Infant Mortality Rate has been reduced nearly by half, from 70/1000 in 2003 to 41 per 1000 live births in 2018.
The maternal mortality rate has also been halved in 15 years, from 407 per lakh births to 221 per lakh in 2018.
The percentage of children under five with stunted growth has been reduced from 53% to 35%.
The percentage of underweight children has reduced from 53% in 2006 to 39% as of 2015.
Mukhyamantri Swasthya Beema Yojana (MSBY)
Chhattisgarh became the first state in India to provide medical insurance to the tune of ₹50,000 for all citizens.
Mitanin Programme (which was extended to the entire country as ASHA by the Government of India)
Using innovative means and technology, to improve the delivery of health and nutrition services at the hamlet level.
The primary beneficiaries of this innovation are children and mothers living in the 60,092 rural habitations of the state.
Swasthya Seva Raths (Mobile Medical Units)
Swasthya Seva Raths are Mobile Medical Units, which provide primary health care services in remote locations of Chhattisgarh, that have no access to primary health care facilities of any kind.
108 Sanjeevani Express
24x7 ambulance service launched in 2011 by the state government.
Fleet of 240 vehicles with full modern features and trained emergency medical staff.
Has helped over 14 lakh citizens since its inception.
Mahtari Express: There are 300 ambulances around the state to take pregnant women to the hospital and drop them back home for free.
Mahtari Jatan Yojana: Under the scheme, nutritious and hot diet is provided to pregnant women by Anganwadi centers, 6 days a week.
Mukhyamantri Bal Hridaya Yojana: A scheme that provides financial assistance for the treatment children with heart conditions.
Under Chirayu Abhiyan, the state has conducted health check-up of 97 lakh children and provided medical treatment facility to more than 16 lakh children.
Under Mukhyamantri Bal Bhavishya Suraksha Yojana, 6,370 children have been benefitted
Under Mukhyamantri Bal Shravan Yojana 112 hearing-impaired children have benefited.
Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been established at 98 places across Chhattisgarh for generic medicines.
Other Developments
In 2015, Chhattisgarh’s first virology lab has been established in Jagdalpur Medical College
Medical Colleges: In last 10 years, the state government has established four new medical colleges in state including medical colleges in Bastar (Jagdalpur) (2006), Raigarh (2013) and Sarguja (Ambikapur) (2016). Including this the total number of medical colleges in state has reached six.
DKS building in Raipur has also been upgraded to a Super-Specialty Hospital.
State Cancer Hospital in Bilaspur has also been established.
Central India’s biggest state-of-the-art cancer hospital was established this year in Atal Nagar by the Vedanta-owned Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd (Balco).
