Prime Minister Modi Hails Record Voter Turnout, Confident Of Government's Return To Power
The exit polls released so far put the National Democratic Alliance well ahead of the opposing INDIA bloc.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed confidence in his government's return to power, following a record-breaking voter turnout in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Nearly 57.78 crore voters participated in the first six phases of the election, out of nearly 100 crore eligible electors. The final phase of voting concluded on Saturday, with a voter turnout nearing 60% as of 5 p.m. The official results of the election will be announced on Tuesday.
A look at the exit polls released so far puts the National Democratic Alliance well ahead of the opposing INDIA bloc. The BJP-led coalition is set to win 342-392 Lok Sabha seats. Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc is seen as limited to 118-169 seats.
PM Modi, in a series of posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the millions of Indian voters who exercised their franchise.
He highlighted the crucial role played by active voter participation in upholding the democratic values of the nation, emphasising their commitment and dedication.
The Prime Minister attributed the anticipated victory to the transformative initiatives undertaken by the NDA government, citing qualitative improvement in the lives of the underprivileged and India's economic growth.
He also praised the significant presence of women (Nari Shakti) and youth (Yuva Shakti) at the polls, describing their participation as an encouraging sign for the democratic process.
In a critique to the opposition INDIA bloc, Prime Minister Modi accused them of resorting to regressive politics, focused solely on criticising him. He labelled the alliance as "casteist, communal, and corrupt," asserting that their failure to present a futuristic vision for the nation led to their rejection by the voters.
Praising the relentless efforts of NDA workers (Karyakartas), Prime Minister Modi commended their dedication in spreading the government's development agenda across the country. Despite facing challenging conditions, he applauded the Karyakartas for their role in motivating voters and ensuring the success of the NDA campaign.
