Mandi Lok Sabha Election Result: Kangana Ranaut Clinches Victory On Debut

Ranaut was standing against Congress' Vikramaditya Singh.

Electoral debutant Kangana Ranaut emerged victorious by a margin of 74,755 votes, after securing 5,37,022 votes in the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh. Congress' Vikramaditya Singh bagged 4,62,267 votes, according to data by the election commission of India.

Singh is the son of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, while Ranaut had replaced Ram Swaroop Sharma as the BJP's choice for the constituency. Sharma had won the 2019 elections from Mandi.

Singh officially conceded defeat in the Mandi seat of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The Congress leader mentioned to ANI in an interview that the 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi factor' did not work in the nation, as BJP struggled to cross the mark of 250 Lok Sabha seats.

"INDIA alliance has performed very well…INDIA alliance can also form the government by forging alliance…," he said.

Ranaut claimed her victory for the Lok Sabha seat from Mandi on Tuesday, in a post on social media platform X.

"Heartfelt gratitude to all Mandi residents for their love, support and trust," she said.

The constituency from Himachal Pradesh went for polling in the last phase and saw a 72% voter turnout. In the 2019 elections, the constituency had seen a 73.6% turnout.

In all the four seats of Himachal Pradesh, the BJP was ahead of the Congress, according to Election Commission trends.

Sharma had clinched victory in both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In 2019, he defeated his rival Aashray Sharma from Congress, with a vote share of 6,47,189 (69%), while Aashray Sharma secured 2,41,730 votes (26%).
