The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena party took lead over Eknath Shinde's faction in Maharashtra, as counting of votes for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections progressed on Tuesday. During the high stakes face-off in the state, Shiv Sena (UBT) won its first seat—Mumbai South Central. The party was leading on nine constituencies in Maharashtra, as of 5:30 p.m., according to election commission website.

Indian National Congress Candidate Adv Gowaal Kagada Padavi won from the Nandurbar constituency by a margin of 1,59,120 votes. Padavi got 7,45,998 votes, while BJP's Dr Heena Vijaykumar Gavit bagged 5,86,878 votes. NCP's Tatkare Sunil Dattatrey won from Raigad by a margin of 82,784 votes.

NDA, led by BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde) faction, was leading on 19 constituencies, with Shiv Sena (Shinde) leading in six seats and BJP on 11 seats.

Shiv Sena (UBT) was leading in Yavatmal-Washim, Hingoli, Parbhani, Nashik, Mumbai North East, Mumbai South, Shirdi and Osmanabad.

For Maharashtra's 48 Lok Sabha seats, a tight race unfolds between the ruling National Democratic Alliance and the opposition INDIA bloc.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal from BJP was leading in Mumbai North with 3,50,921 votes, against Congress' Bhushan Patil.

Following the 2021 state elections, divisions erupted within the Shiv Sena party, with Shinde creating a separate faction of the party. Shortly after, NCP's Ajit Pawar had also cut off from his party and created a separate grouping.

Back in 2019, the BJP had secured 23 seats in Maharashtra, while its erstwhile ally, the undivided Shiv Sena, had clinched 18. The unified NCP managed to secure four constituencies, with the Congress securing just one seat.

Maharashtra boasts the second-largest representation in the Lok Sabha after Uttar Pradesh, which has 80 seats.
