Election Results 2024: Narendra Modi Elected NDA Leader; Joe Biden Congratulates Poll Victory

The outgoing Union Ministers of the 17th Lok Sabha are on their way to Rashtrapati Bhawan to attend the dinner organised by President Droupadi Murmu.

The co-founder of Bloomberg and American Politician Mike Bloomberg congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for forming a government for the third time. He further said that he is looking forward "to expand economic opportunity and accelerate climate action and the clean energy transition."

The people’s mandate has given a befitting reply to the BJP and their politics of hate, corruption and deprivation. This is a political and moral defeat of Prime Minister, Sh Narendra Modi.

This is a mandate in defense of the Constitution of India and against price rise, unemployment and crony capitalism of the Modi Government.

The India bloc will continue to fight against the fascist rule of the BJP led by Sh. Modi. We will take appropriate steps at the appropriate time to realise the people’s desire not to be ruled by the BJP’s government."

US President Joe Biden congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Democratic Alliance on their victory.

Chief Ministers of all BJP-ruled states have been called to Delhi. On June 7, a meeting of Chief Ministers and senior BJP leaders will be held at the BJP headquarters. This meeting will be held after the NDA meeting ends in the Central Hall of Parliament.

The resolution said the NDA government will continue working to lift people's living standards for the country's all-round development while conserving its heritage.

"We are all proud that the NDA fought the 2024 Lok Sabha polls unitedly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and won. We all NDA leaders unanimously elect Narendra Modi as our leader," it added.

The resolution also said that people have seen the country being developed in every sector in the last 10 years due to the pro-people policies of the NDA government under Modi.

The NDA fought the Lok Sabha elections together and will form the government under the leadership of Narendra Modi, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu said.

The NDA held on Wednesday which elected Narendra Modi as their alliance leader. On being asked about being a part of the NDA, he said, "How can we contest elections if we are not a part of NDA? We fought this collectively. The meeting was good."

The NDA will form a full majority government is going to be formed in Delhi once again under the leadership of PM Modi, a senior BJP leader said. "PM Modi forming the government for a third consecutive time shows that people trust him," said Rajasthan BJP chief CP Joshi.

TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, LJP(R) leader Chirag Paswan and NCP leader Praful Patel were among those who attended the meeting.

French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Narendra Modi for the victory in the general elections.

"India has concluded the world's largest elections! Congratulations Narendra Modi, my dear friend. Together we will continue to further strengthening the strategic partnership that unites India and France," he said.

The opposition INDIA bloc leaders have started their meeting to discuss possibilities of forming a government.

The National Democratic Alliance unanimously passed the resolution and elected Narendra Modi as the leader of the coalition.

Tamil Nadu CM and DMK chief MK Stalin, Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and AAP MP Raghav Chadha arrived at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to take part in INDIA alliance meeting.

President Droupadi Murmu has ordered the dissolving of the 17th Lok Sabha, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique. The term of the current 17th Lok Sabha ends on June 16.

Earlier on Wednesday, the President accepted the resignation of the Union Council of Ministers.

The NDA constituents will meet the President later this evening and hand over letters of support, NDTV reported, quoting sources. Allies Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar submitted their letters of support in the NDA meeting, which has ended.

Around ten independent MPs and small parties will also support the BJP, NDTV said.

BJP leader Ashok Chavan said Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis' offer to resign from his post is his "personal statement. "There was no discussion in the core room regarding this (of Fadnavis' resignation) and the core room does not endorse such a view... The central leadership will take a decision on it," he told reporters.

The BJP will analyse its performance in Tamil Nadu and support the elected MPs of the I.N.D.I.A bloc, state party chief K Annamalai said on Wednesday. "We did not get the expected seats, but we are happy to form the government for the third time. We expected to send MPs from Tamil Nadu on behalf of the NDA alliance," he said, as per ANI.

"We will support the MPs in bringing good schemes to the state. We see this election as a lesson and we will do better than before and make our candidates win in the upcoming elections in the state," he added.

Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and JP Nadda of the BJP are set to meet with President Murmu to stake claim to form new government, as per NDTV sources. The NDA had secured a majority of seats in the Lok Sabha elections. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar are also set to accompany them.

The Shiv Sena (Shinde Faction) will demand two posts in the Modi 3.0 cabinet, according to NDTV sources. It is further learnt that one will be a Cabinet Minister portfolio and the second will be a Minister of State.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik resigned following the defeat of the Biju Janata Dal to the Bhartiya Janata Party, which secured 78 of the 147 seats in the Odisha Assembly Elections, PTI reported.
