Home Minister Amit Shah won a second consecutive term from the crucial seat of Gandhinagar, previously ruled by BJP heavyweight LK Advani. Shah faced competition from Patel, a professional architect and secretary of the All India Congress Committee.

The Union Home Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party leads in the Lok Sabha constituency of Gandhinagar in Gujarat with 10,10,972 votes, while Congress' Sonal Patel trailed with 2,66,256 votes, according to the Election Commission website.

The Gujarat constituency, comprising seven Vidhan Sabha seats—Gandhinagar North, Kalol, Vadu, Ghatlodia, Vejalpur, Naranpura, and Sabarmati—participated in the third phase of the current elections by voting on May 7.

The constituency saw a voter turnout of 59.80%, including 62.99% male voters, while the female voter turnout was at 56.42% and third gender voters were at 19.48%.

The BJP had won the seat in the last two elections—2019 and 2014. In 2019, Shah won over 46% more votes than Congress' CJ Chavda. In 2014, the BJP's LK Advani won 44.6% more votes, as compared with the runner-up Congress candidate, Kirtibhai Patel.
