Advance Tax Collection Grows 27% To Rs 1.48 Lakh Crore

Collections over the corresponding period last year were at Rs 1.16 lakh crore, according to data from the Central Board of Direct Taxes.

Provisional advance tax collections increased 27% year-on-year to Rs 1.48 lakh crore till June 17 in the financial year 2025. Of this, advance corporate tax collection stood at Rs 1.14 lakh crore, while personal tax stood at Rs 34,470 crore.

Collections over the corresponding period last year were Rs 1.16 lakh crore, according to data from the Central Board of Direct Taxes.

The window for paying the first installment of advance tax ended on June 15.

Advance tax is paid in four installments throughout the year, with the first installment amounting to 15% of the total evaluated tax liability for the particular fiscal.

Meanwhile, gross direct tax collections stood at Rs 5.15 lakh crore as of June 17, compared with Rs 4.22 lakh crore last year, registering a 22% increase.

Net direct tax collections rose 21% to Rs 4.62 lakh crore, as compared with Rs 3.82 lakh crore in the corresponding period last year.

Refunds amounting to Rs 53,322 crore have been issued till June 17 this fiscal, which is 33.7% higher than refunds issued during the same period in the preceding year.

  • Gross direct tax at Rs 5,15,986 crore, a 22% YoY growth.

  • Net direct tax at Rs 4,62,664 crore (net of refund).

  • Refunds at Rs 53,322 crore.

  • Advance tax (first installment): Rs 1,48,823 crore, up 27.34% YoY.

    • Advance corporate tax share at Rs 1,14,353 crore.

    • Advance personal tax share at Rs 34,470 crore.

  • Gross corporate tax at Rs 2,26,280 crore.

  • Gross personal income tax at Rs 2,88,993 crore (including securities transaction tax).

  • Tax deducted at source at Rs 3,24,787 crore.

  • Self-assessment tax at Rs 28,471 crore.

  • Regular assessment tax at Rs 10,920 crore.

  • Tax under other minor heads at Rs 2,985 crore.
