Wipro Bags $500-Million Deal From US Communication Service Provider

The information technology major will provide managed services for some products and industry-specific solutions over a period of five years.

Wipro Ltd. has been awarded a $500-million deal by a leading US communication service provider, the company announced on Thursday. The contract value is around Rs 4,175 crore.

The information technology major will provide managed services for some products and industry-specific solutions over a period of five years. The company did not disclose the name of the client in its exchange filing.

Last month, Wipro collaborated with Microsoft Inc. to launch multiple cognitive assistants for financial services powered by generative artificial intelligence. These include GenAI Investor Intelligence, GenAI Investor Onboarding and GenAI Loan Origination.

The cognitive assistants, powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI service, will integrate with existing mobile and digital platforms, providing a unified source of information to financial services professionals and their clients.

Shares of Wipro closed 2.09% higher at Rs 461 apiece on the BSE, ahead of the announcement, as compared with a 0.93% advance in the benchmark BSE Sensex.
