Uttar Pradesh Calls Meeting Of All Indian EV Makers On July 11

The Uttar Pradesh government has called a meeting of all stakeholders in India's electric mobility space on July 11, according to a circular viewed by NDTV Profit
The Yogi Adityanath-led government seeks to clear the ambit of the FAME-II scheme with EV makers. India's top carmakers, including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., have been invited for the meeting, the circular said, adding that the object of the meeting is to discuss the financial incentives that an EV maker may be enjoying under the FAME-II scheme, the circular said.
The move follows a waiver off registration fees on hybrid cars sold in the northern state.
The state imposes an 8% road tax on four-wheelers that cost less than Rs 10 lakh, and 10% on those priced at Rs 10 lakh and higher.
The move is seen as a boost to Maruti Suzuki, which retails two strong hybrid cars—the Grand Vitara and Invicto. Toyota India has the Hyryder and Innova Hycross, and Honda Cars India Ltd. sells a hybrid variant of its City sedan.
