Udupi Cochin Shipyard Ltd. has received an order from Ocean Sparkle, part of Adani Harbour Services Ltd., to supply three Azimuthing Stern Drive Tugs of 70-tonne bollard pull power.

The contract was signed by Harikumar A, chief executive officer of Udupi Cochin Shipyard, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Ltd., and Hiren Shah, managing director and chief executive officer of Ocean Sparkle.

Ocean Sparkle, an existing customer of Udupi Cochin Shipyard, had ordered two 62-tonne bollard pull ASD tugs, according to an exchange filling on Friday. The company delivered the order before the contractual delivery date. The ASD tugs have been deployed at the Paradeep Port and New Mangalore Port.

These tugs will be classed with the Indian Register of Shipping.

They will conform to the Approved Standard Tug Design and Specifications by the Government of India, in line with Aatmanirbhar Bharat and 'Make in India' initiatives, the filing said. Udupi Cochin Shipyard is the first shipyard to contract and construct tugs conforming to the standards.
