TCS Gives 'Largest Ever Industry Donation' To Carnegie Mellon University For Research Facility

India's largest IT services company TCS and Carnegie Mellon University(CMU) started work on the construction of a Global Research Facility in the US. The new facility to be built on the CMU campus will be funded by an "unprecedented" $35 million grant from TCS, the "largest-ever industry donation" to Carnegie Mellon University, the Indian outsourcer said in a press release on Friday. Tata Group chairman emeritus Ratan Tata was joined by Carnegie Mellon University president Subra Suresh along with current Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran to break the ground of the new TCS Hall at the university campus.

"The building will house research and academic spaces where the two institutions will collaborate on promoting next-generation technologies that will drive the 4th Industrial Revolution," TCS said.
