Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, MK Stalin, announced plans to open an international airport in Hosur during a session of the Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

The proposed airport, which will span nearly 2,000 acres, is expected to handle 30 million passengers annually. This development aims to boost the socio-economic growth of Hosur, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri.

"A new master plan for Hosur city is nearing completion," he said.

This announcement comes after Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced that his government has submitted a proposal to the Central government for a second airport in Bengaluru, which is likely to be built on Tumakuru Road.

In addition to the airport, Stalin unveiled plans for a world-class library and intellectual centre in Trichy.

He highlighted the increasing investments in the city over the past few years and emphasised the DMK-led government's commitment to implement various projects to establish modern infrastructure, positioning the region as a key economic centre.
