SpiceJet Ltd. clarified on Wednesday that the air conditioning was functioning when its Darbhanga-bound flight departed in the morning. The clarification comes after passengers travelling on the flight complained that they waited for over an hour on the flight without air conditioning.

The incident took place in New Delhi amid scorching heat, which worsened the passengers' discomfort. Several passengers were also feeling unwell, according to media reports.

The air conditioning was working normally throughout the flight, which was verified and cross-checked upon arrival in Darbhanga, according to a statement issued by SpiceJet.

The airlines further stated that after the boarding process was complete, the flight's doors closed and the cooling system continued to operate normally.

"During boarding in Delhi, the air conditioning initially experienced slight inefficiency due to extreme weather conditions and both doors of the aircraft being open, as boarding was not via the aerobridge," SpiceJet said in a statement.

The same flight operated a return flight to Delhi and faced no issues with the air conditioning, according to the statement.

The incident occurred a few days after a technical issue caused a delay on an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Bagdogra in Bengal.
