Shah Rukh Khan Smashes More Box-Office Records With Happy New Year
Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Happy New Year is now the fourth highest Bollywood grosser ever, according to figures from trade website Koimoi.com.
Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year has so far grossed Rs 380 crore in total collections worldwide, buoyed by a strong overseas performance. Happy New Year has collected nearly Rs 90 crore from overseas markets, along with Rs 290 crore (gross) in domestic markets.
In terms of domestic net collections, Happy New Year is the second biggest grosser of this year after Kick. Happy New Year's net collection in domestic markets totaled Rs
201.80 crore against Rs 233 crore for Kick, according to Koimoi.com's figures.
Happy New Year is Shah Rukh Khan's second movie in the Rs 200 crore club (net domestic collection) after Chennai Express, said a report from trade website Koimoi.com. Shah Rukh Khan's previous movie Chennai Express made a lifetime business of Rs 225 crore in the domestic market, says the report.
The other Bollywood movies in the Rs 200 crore club are Dhoom 3, Krrish 3, Kick and 3 Idiots, says the report.
Produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment and directed by Farah Khan, Happy New Year is a heist drama.
Released on October 24, Happy New Year also set new box-office records for first day as well as opening week collections.
