Shah Rukh Khan Scores More Box-Office Records with Happy New Year
Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Happy New Year has broken many records on its way to box-office success. The domestic collections of Happy New Year have risen to Rs 273 crore, trade website koimoi.com says in a report.
And combined with overseas collection of Rs 78 crore, Happy New Year has made a total business of over Rs 350 crore, according the report.
Happy New Year is now the sixth biggest Bollywood grosser ever, according to the estimates of koimoi.com. Based on overseas collections, Happy New Year is the seventh highest-grossing Bollywood film, the report adds.
Happy New Year has now overtaken Shah Rukh Khan's earlier films Don 2 and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehana in terms of overseas collections, adds the report.
Released on October 24, Happy New Year also set new box-office records for first day as well as opening week collections. Produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment and directed by Farah Khan, Happy New Year is a heist drama.
Speaking on the success of the film, Red Chillies Entertainment CEO Venky Mysore had earlier said, "Happy New Year has set new benchmark. We are grateful for the ongoing love and support of audience."
Happy New Year also features Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Sonu Sood, and Vivaan Shah.
