Infrastructure development is an ambitious venture with complexity and unpredictability wedded into the process, which calls for robust planning, transparent execution and resilience, said Pranav Adani.

"One has to be prepared for unexpected setbacks, from ballooning costs to all kinds of interference. Complexity and unpredictability are inherent in mega infrastructure projects," Adani, the managing director of agro, oil and gas and director at Adani Enterprises Ltd., said in his keynote address at the NDTV Infrashakti Awards.

"Such experiences underscore the need for robust planning, transparent execution and resilience in the face of challenges," he said.

Adani also noted that the sensible way to achieve infrastructural growth is to streamline it with national priorities. He cited examples of the Adani Group's Khavda renewable park, which is a "modern monument" for energy sustainability and the Dharavi slum redevelopment project, whose approach reflects the conglomerate's dedication to inclusive and sustainable growth.

"Infrastructure is the fundamental key to progress and the foundation of economic growth. India's progress is defined by how strong the infrastructure backbone is," Adani said. He highlighted that annual spending on national infrastructure has increased three times in the last five years.

Adani said the NDTV Infrashakti Awards recognise the multi-faceted aspects of sustainable infrastructure development. "By honouring these trailblazers, we not only acknowledge their diverse contributions but also inspire future generations to become changemakers in building a capable and prosperous nation."
