LPG Becomes Cheaper. How Much A Cylinder Costs Now: 10 Things To Know
Monday's revision marks the fourth reduction in non-subsidised LPG cylinder prices so far this year
  1. Subsidised LPG prices have been lowered by Rs 1.74 per cylinder in Delhi and Kolkata, Rs 1.76 per cylinder in Mumbai and Rs 1.77 per cylinder in Chennai. That means, subsidised LPG cylinders will cost Rs 491.35 per unit in Delhi, Rs 494.33 in Kolkata, Rs 489.04 in Mumbai and Rs 479.44 in Chennai, according to Indian Oil Corporation, which supplies LPG under brand Indane. (Also readPetrol, Diesel Prices Soar To New Highs)
  2. Monday's revision marks the fourth reduction in LPG cylinder prices so far this year.
  3. Non-subsidised LPG prices have come down by a cumulative Rs 93.5 per cylinder in Delhi so far in 2018.
  4. In Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai, the LPG rate has come down by Rs 90 per cylinder, Rs 94 per cylinder and Rs 92.5 per cylinder respectively.
  5. Subsidised LPG has become cheaper by a cumulative Rs 4.34 per cylinder in Delhi, Rs 4.1 per cylinder in Kolkata, Rs 4.34 per cylinder in Mumbai and Rs 4.25 per cylinder in Chennai during this period.
  6. Every household in the country is entitled to 12 LPG cylinders of 14.2 kg each at subsidised rates in a year.
  7. Any requirement beyond that is to be purchased at market prices. These prices are known as non-subsidised LPG rates.
  8. Meanwhile, state-run Indraprastha Gas hiked CNG and PNG (piped natural gas) prices in Delhi. Effective April 2, CNG price has been hiked by 90 paise per kg and of domestic piped gas by Rs 1.15 per standard cubic metres (SCM) in the national capital, following the change in the rate of domestic natural gas prices payable to producers.
  9. As part of the six-monthly official revision of rates, the domestic natural gas price has gone from April 1 up 6 per cent to $3.06 per million British thermal unit (mbtu). IGL has also raised the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by Re 1 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. (Read more)
  10. Prices of piped natural gas (PNG) to households in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad have been raised by Rs 1.20 per SCM.
