IIM-A Placements: Accenture, Amazon Top Recruiters

IT major Accenture and e-tailer Amazon emerged as the top recruiters at IIM-Ahmedabad, India's premier business school said in a statement on Tuesday.

Accenture Strategy was top recruiter across all clusters and selected 21 students from campus, while Amazon stood second with 13 offers, the B-school said.

Others top recruiters were McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Yes Bank and Samsung; all of them recruited around 10 students each. Bharti Airtel and Bain & Company made nine offers each, while Aditya Birla Group and Future Group recruited eight students.

FMCG major Hindustan Unilever and Star TV India extended six offers while US-based investment bank Goldman Sachs made five offers, IIM Ahmedabad said in a statement.

In all, more than 115 firms recruited 375 students, the B-school said.

However, 11 students from the batch opted out of placements and decided to start up their own venture, the B-school said.

The start-ups are in various sectors like adventure tourism, data analytics, e-commerce, food processing among others, the release said.

"Our efforts to promote entrepreneurship were boosted with several students opting for their own ventures," said Sumit Patil, the recruitment secretary of IIM Ahmedabad said

The placement process saw participation from wide range of sectors like consulting space, banking & financial services, PE/VC firms, internet & e-commerce, technology sector, pharmaceuticals etc.
